چکیده

Micromanipulation and micro-assembly represent a field of technology that is gaining more and more importance. Performing microoperations manually with special tools like tweezers is very time intensive and exhausting. The precision of the human hand is also very limited. Therefore, it is of great interest to automate such processes. At the University of Karlsruhe, a microrobot with piezoelectric actuators was developed. It is able to move over long distances and to position its manipulator with an accuracy of about 1 μm. Possible applications of this flexible robot are the assembly of microsystems and the handling of biological cells. This paper presents the sensor concept and the vision based control system of this robot.

Piezoelectric Actuated In-pipe Microrobot with P-type Iterative Learning Active Force Control

In this paper, a piezoelectric microrobot is modelled and simulated based on active force control (AFC) with a proportional (P) – type iterative learning algorithm (ILA) operating in a constrained environment for an in-pipe application. A mathematical model that represents the dynamic characteristics of microrobot has been developed considering the robot system subjected to different input exci...

Wheels Optimization and Vision Control of Omni-directional Mobile Microrobot

This paper presents a millimeters scale omni-directional mobile microrobot with special dual-wheel structure. The microrobot was actuated by three electromagnetic micromotors of 2mm diameter. Dynamic analysis of translational and steering movements presented the relationship between the sizes of the dual-wheel structure and the output torque of the micromotor. Genetic algorithm (GA) was employe...

An omni-directional mobile millimeter-sized microrobot with 3-mm electromagnetic micromotors for a micro-factory

This paper presents an omni-directional mobile microrobot for micro-assembly in a microfactory. A novel structure is designed for omni-directional movement with three normal wheels. The millimeter-sized microrobot is actuated by four electromagnetic micromotors whose size is 3.1 mm × 3.1 mm × 1.4 mm. Three of the micromotors are for translation and the other one is for steering. The micromotor ...

Control Architecture of a Flexible Microrobot-based Microassembly Station

Abstract: The assembly of complex microsystems consisting of several single components (i.e. hybrid microsystems) is a task which has to be solved to make mass production of microsystems possible. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce flexible, highly precise and fast microassembly methods. In this paper, the control system of a microrobot-based microassembly desktop station that has been dev...

Design Methodology for Robust and Fault-Tolerant Control of a Microprehensile Microrobot-On-Chip

Recently, the evolution of microfabrication technologies and component integration at microscale led to the development of integrated Microrobot-On-Chip (MOC) where onchip control refers to integrated miniaturized systems where the control algorithms, sensors and actuators are included as part of the system. Enabling these types of micromechatronic systems requires research in methods to deal w...
